SI is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Protection Mainstreaming Manager to join our team in NWS. The PMM efforts will be scaled up to integrate protection principles into the delivery of assistance and services so that Sectors can ensure response activities target the most vulnerable, enhance safety, and dignity, and promote and protect the rights of the beneficiaries in line with the “DO NO HARM” principle and without inadvertently contributing to or perpetuating discrimination, abuse, violence, neglect, and exploitation across SI programs and operations in NWS. 

 

Mission Size:

NWS base is comprised of 2 sub-offices (in Idleb and Aleppo Governorates), soon to be managed by an office in Aleppo city. The team is comprised of 95 national staff, the Protection mainstreaming manager is managing 2 protection mainstreaming officers, already hired.

 

Integration of protection Principles: 

  • Reinforce the strategy of SI to systematically integrate protection principles across SI sectors of intervention and project.
  • In collaboration with program managers, identify vulnerabilities and propose concrete actions to prevent, mitigate and address protection risks linked to SI activities.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure the integration of protection considerations in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all projects and ensure protection concerns are addressed in all aspects of the response, such as shelter, FSL, and WASH, and MEAL.
  • Lead protection and gender risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and gaps, and protection mainstreaming needs; based on the assessment findings, make recommendations to enhance protection mainstreaming in the relevant sectors within SI programs and develop strategies in collaboration with communities to mitigating those risks.
  • Developing a strategy and work plan.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders, organize meetings taking notes and disseminating final minutes.

Training and Capacity Building:

  • Collaborate with the Protection and Gender Mainstreaming Expert to conduct knowledges assessments and organize training on gender and protection mainstreaming.
  • With Technical Support from the Protection Mainstreaming Regional Expert, Monitor Organizational adherence to the Protection and Gender Mainstreaming SoPs, Guidelines and work plans.
  • Support in the dissemination of guidelines, tools, and resources related to protection and gender mainstreaming.
  • Provide guidance, training, and monitoring to SI staff and partners for effective utilization of referral mechanisms, and regularly assess the quality and efficiency of referral services and identify gaps and areas for improvement.

PSEA coordination and promotion

  • Support in promoting a zero-tolerance approach to sexual exploitation and abuse within the orgnization
  • Assess needs and formulate awareness plans and conduct refresher trainings on PSEA for staff, daily workers and community volunteers
  • Represent SI and attend the PSEA Network meetings in NES additionally, disseminate key PSEAH information, MoMs, guidelines, and updates with relevant managers, coordinators within the organization. 

 

Collaboration and Networking: 

  • Ensure active participation and coordination of the Protection Mainstreaming actions and priorities in relevant protection-related meetings such as Protection Working Group, GBV Working Group and AAP (Accountability to Affected Population) Working Group.
  • Maintain regular communication with, and provide regular updates to, Protection Working Groups to ensure approaches are in line with best practice and global learning;
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and key actors to develop partnerships and strengthen referral pathways, ensuring the continuity of care.
  • Strengthening Referral Mechanisms: enhance and standardize referral protocols with other protection actors to ensure timely and appropriate support for beneficiaries and vulnerable populations.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting: 

  • In collaboration with the Regional Protection and Gender Advisor, advise on relevant monitoring framework to capture results and measure progress on protection mainstreaming
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure the effectiveness and impact of protection mainstreaming initiatives and ensure continuous learning and improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on protection mainstreaming activities, progress, challenges, and recommendations for senior management and donors.
  • Collaborate with the MEAL department to prioritize the voices and preferences of beneficiaries by proposing and implementing communication channels, such as complaints boxes, within the Feedback, Complaints, and Response Mechanisms (FCRM), ensuring the inclusion of the most vulnerable individuals and groups

Ethics

  • Participate in the communication around the existence of the code of conduct and behavior of SI.
  • Report to his line manager any problem or information having an impact on the activities or on the safety of the teams. 

 

Studies:

  • Bachelor/Master Degrees (social studies, humanitarian affairs, etc.)

 

Experience:

  • 0-2 years of professional experience in protection work at the field level in humanitarian contexts; professional experience in Coordination a plus
  • 3-4 years of professional experience in program implementation including monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in capacity building and delivering training sessions and workshops.
  • Strong understanding of protection principles and likely protection concerns.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and the promotion of human rights
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders.

 

Language:

 

  • Must be fluent in English (written & spoken).
